How to play AC: Welcome Luxury without graphical and music changes

You can get many Animal Crossing: Welcome Luxury quality of life improvements without the weird aesthetic changes

Many people going back to Animal Crossing: New Leaf will check out the hack Welcome Luxury for quality of life improvements. Unfortunately the hack also includes a lot of aesthetic changes to textures, text, and music which take away from the nostalgia of going back to a 10+ year old game.

If you want to enjoy quality of life improvements with a stock visual and audio experience, the solution is to use the Vapecord ACNL Plugin to replicate only the QoL changes on a stock version of New Leaf (I’m using Welcome Amiibo). The plugin is actually compatible with Welcome Luxury so you can stack both, but since my goal is a stock graphical experience, I install the plugin on a new ACNLWA install from hshop.

The best way to install and set up the Vapecord plugin is to search for and download it from Universal Updater directly on your CFW 3DS. There’s no separate .3ds or .cia to launch, you just launch your AC game after the install and get a setup screen.

The setup will ask you to choose a mode like Colorful and Lite - this only changes how the windows look. Once you’re in game, you use SELECT to open the plugin menu. From there you can set the QoL changes from Welcome Luxury detailed below. However, some WL changes aren’t possible with the Vapecord plugin.

For some of these like the fish codes, you will want to go Tools > Settings in the plugins and turn on the auto save / auto load settings. There are a ton of other useful settings in the plugin worth checking out, such as Misc Codes > Fast Text Speed.

Plugin codes which correspond to a Welcome Luxury change: #

  • Save Codes > Unlock QR Machine
  • Save Codes > 100% Mayor Permit
  • Misc Codes > Unbreakable Flowers
  • Extra Codes > Fish Codes > Fish Bite Always
  • Extra Codes > Fish Codes > Fish Can’t Be Scared
  • Extra Codes > Edit Every Pattern
  • Extra Codes > Shops Always Open
  • Island Codes > All Tours Selectable
  • Movement Codes > No Shovel Knockback

Missing changes exclusive to Welcome Luxury: #

  • Disable grass deterioration
  • Flowers never wilt (though you can Water All with a shortcut)
  • Mosquitos no longer bite
  • Resetti changes
  • No tripping
  • No bedhed
  • No limit on the number of items on the island
  • Buy price = sell price for items
  • Town fruit prices are equal to foreign fruits
  • PlayCoins are earned when buying fortune cookies

Now you can play with the valuable quality of life improvements while also enjoying a stock graphical and audio experience.
